RETIRING Heart Charms

I used our new Heart Charms (154282) on several wedding and anniversary cards as they’re just the right accent for these types of cards. And since they’re metal, you can color them with your Blends to perfectly complement your design. But they’re not adhesive backed … So how do you adhere them?

Here’s my TIP: Use the course side of your Emery Board to rough up the finish on the back of the Charm. The tiny grooves you create will give the Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755) a place to ‘sit’ when you add them to your project. Try it … it really works!

NOTE: I added a Heart Charm to my Oval Occasions Gift Box – I had no problem with it adhering to the Tag because I used my Emery Board first!

PS: These Charms are RETIRING which means when our current inventory runs out, they’re gone forever. Add them to your order today, so you don’t miss out!

In  this picture the white strip is 1.9cm; the dark green strip is 2.5cm; and, the blue strip is 1.3cm

Q: I want to make the Lovely You card on page 169 of the Annual Catalog, but how does that Punch cut outstrips in three different widths? Please explain!

A: All Pick a Punch design are made with three different channels in the base – each one fits a different width of paper/cardstock. In this picture, the white strip is 3/4”; the dark green strip is 1”; and the blue strip is 1/2”. Notice that every Pick a Punch has two designs so that you can cut out SIX different strips with each punch! We have three Pick Punch designs – Banners (153608), Lovely Labels (152883), and Treasured Tags (154425). Which is your favorite?!

NOTE: Purchase the Lovely You stamp set and the coordinating Lovely You Labels. Pick A Punch as a BUNDLE (154070) and save 10%. The stamp set and punch will be available in the new catalog, but the sale price is valid only thru May 3rd.

My beautiful granddaughter’s graduation picture

Well, it’s been a sometimes difficult trip to get my granddaughter Jordyn Lynn to graduation day, but at last, we are there. May 20th, 2021 will watch her get her diploma. She had her senior pictures taken, and this is one of the 25 we picked out. I am so proud of her for her ADD and Anxiety issues; she did it—way to go, Jordyn Lynn.

RETIRING – stamp set, Timeless Label Punch, Story Label Punch, DSP, Trim, Star Elements

Over the past several months, I’ve figured out that my “go-to” set is Happy Thoughts. In fact, I’ve used it so many times that I had to figure out a more efficient way to stamp … and I’m sharing that Technique with you today. I can quickly make four cards using this one set and one Layout. I hope this Technique inspires you to create lots of lovely cards, in a short time, with Happy Thoughts!

INSTRUCTIONS

TECHNIQUE – HAPPY THOUGHTS with the Stamparatus

– – Remove the Foam Mat from Stamparatus if you’re using Cling stamps

1. Create your “Guide” on Stamparatus Grid Paper: vertical lines at 3” and 6”; horizontal lines at 1”, 3”, 5” and 7”. Place small sentiment stamps, in the order shown, aligning between vertical lines and across horizontal lines. (See Photo 1). Lower Plate over stamps; add a little pressure to secure them to Plate.
2. With Plate raised, place Messages CS flush with top rail and between vertical lines; secure with Magnets.
3. Ink stamps with Stampin’ Pad/Marker; lower Plate onto CS. NOTE: If you’re not happy with the ‘look’ of your stamped messages (See Photo 2), raise the Plate, add more ink and stamp again. (See Photo 3).
4. Remove CS from Stamparatus. Cut out each sentiment with coordinating Punch in this order.
– Congratulations – Timeless (See Photo 4)
– Thinking of You – Everyday
– Happy Birthday – Story
– Thank You – Tailored

NOTE: Because you’ve spaced them according to the Guide, you’ll need to trim just a little from one punch to the next. (See Photo 5). If you’ve stamped your sentiments a little off center, not a problem … the placement on the Guide allows (actually expects) this and compensates accordingly!
Repeat process for as many sentiments as you need, in as many colors as you want!

CARDS – remember to remove the Foam Mat from your Stamparatus

1. Fold Card Base; burnish crease with Bone Folder. Set aside.
2. Following all steps of TECHNIQUE, stamp one set (four) sentiments with Meadow ink on Granite Messages CS and cut out with coordinating Punch.
3. Create Sentiment/backing layers (refer to finished Cards if needed):
– Congratulations – two Timeless cutouts from Bumblebee CS, crisscrossed to create new shape (See Photo 6); add Stars with Take Your Pick
– Thinking Of You – one Everyday cutout from Meadow CS, offset to top left; add Gems with Take Your Pick
– Happy Birthday – two Story cutouts from Moonlight CS, one offset to top, other to bottom; add Rhinestones with Take Your Pick
– Thank You – two Tailored Tag cutouts from Cider CS, one offset to the top right, other to lower left, keeping opposite edge flush with stamped piece; add Dots with Take Your Pick.
4. Assemble Card as follows:
– Adhere DSP pieces to Suede CS with Seal;
– Wrap Trim over DSP, covering where pieces meet, securing on front with thin line of Liquid Glue and on back with Glue Dots;
– Attach to Card Base with Seal; and
– Add Sentiment/backer with Dimensionals.
5. Decorate Card Insert with stamps/DSP as desired; decorate Envelope if you choose.

Repeat these steps for all Card Bases + stamped sentiments you’ve prepared today.

Did you know that in many cultures, the Ladybug represents love, prosperity, and good luck? When I found that out, I knew I had to add one to the Tag on my friend’s gift. With any of the other six sentiments in this set, I’ll be ready to decorate more Acetate Boxes for all my gift-giving needs … PERFECT!

INSTRUCTIONS

TECHNIQUE – Gift Card Holder Base

1. Fold Card Base on score lines; burnish fold with Bone Folder. Set aside.
2. Use your Sponge and Saffron ink to darken the GC Holder CS. Sponge around the edges until it’s pretty dark, then Sponge a little color in the middle but don’t make it as dark as the edges. (See Photo 1). Round two corners with Trio Punch.
NOTE: Notice those three little dark spots in Photo 1? That’s where my fingernail poked through the Sponge! When that happens, don’t panic; just change add a strip of paper to cover it!
3. On the back of the Holder, add Tear & Tape to the left, lower, and right edges. (See Photo 2). Adhere to inside of left panel of Card Base placing so rounded corners are closest to the scoreline. (See Photo 3).

Make Your Card
1. Complete TECHNIQUE using Saffron Card Base and Card Holder pieces with Saffron ink.
2. Cut Tear & Tape lengthwise (into a very narrow piece) and attach to the Foil strip and DSP strip. Add these two pieces to Card Holder. Refer to Photo 3 for placement.
3. Round opposite corners of DSP with Trio punch. Adhere to Meadow CS with Seal. Wrap layer with Ribbon, securing on front and back with Glue Dots; add slip knot. Adhere layer to Card Base with Seal.
4. Attach Foil to Merlot CS with Tear & Tape; add Card Base to Foil with Tear & Tape.
5. When ready, stamp a sentiment inside Card Base with Meadow ink.
6. Decorate the Envelope if you choose.
